Drawing Block 3 Project X

This self directed project was called Chiaroscuro where we had to distinguish the different tonal values of everything and make a bit more dramatic in the drawing, so i played around with photography around my flat to see which would work best. I found it much better to work from a photograph rather than primarily as you got to see things more in a composition and it made the lighting differences much clearer - this is when Craig's advice of not always rely-ing on your eyes helps a lot - so here are some of my favourite photographs which lead me on to my final piece for the day.

I discovered the amazing-ness of effects on my webcam and made it very dark with only a small portion of the space being able to light something up so I played around taking pictures with my face as lost of chiaroscuro artists deal with figure as well as still life and landscapes/cityscapes. Really wanted to explore this style so i did do a few more than this but these are my favourites

I decided this one as i thought it had an interesting composition and  I thought it set the mood for my flat, as i always try to look out to see what's going on and really don't want be stuck inside all day, but feel sometimes cooped up as there is 750 of us students in such a small area. Wanted to play with space and meaning and use the chiaroscuro to help reveal the meaning of Woolyhill to me even though its home...
Thanks for reading about all my drawing blocks well so far got a self directed to do for when I get feedback. Please keep fingers, toes, legs, arms, eyes, hairs, and tails crossed :)
