OMG am an art student!

So this week I've officially started at Gray's School of Art and well am loving it. This week we were doing our 1st block of drawing and visualisation which concerns sensitivity and  selectivity in mark making mostly producing line drawings and doing different themes to explore the subject matter to the most. our days have been split into daily projects so were covering quite a lot of areas just in this 1st week.

DAY 1 Project X Interior/ Exterior
DAY 2 Project C Its Just A Chair
DAY 3 No Uni
DAY 4 Project B Figure in Space
DAY 5 Project A Exploring The Figure

Overall the 1st day was erm scary mostly because i didn't really know what was happening cause we had no tutor contact. But I think I found my way and done okay. in the morning we just had to wander around finding interesting compositions and atmospheres in spaces and translating that into a drawn image using tone and line. then in the afternoon we had to chose our desired space with atmosphere and composition and draw it on A2 scale.

Day 2 was really interesting we got thrown into a room with like 2 chairs to each person and there was my painting group of 29 and the communication group 1 of 22 so it was quite a full room to say the least. In the morning we were just drawing on the same piece of paper so we had about 6 overlapping line drawings then in the afternoon it was split into 2 sections where we went out into the cold and drew in continuous line a row of 29 chairs and then continuous line taking one chair and placing it in an interesting composition then go back inside to draw a pile up of different chairs a couple getting added every 5 minutes so the image kept changing.

Day 4 we went into our tutor class and a model came in and we had to draw her in various positions just in line and continuous line, blind drawing and left handed then in the afternoon we had to pick a point on her body and follow it with our pencil on the piece of paper so we only got the line of the movement then made it harder that we had to follow 2 points on her body and do that at the end of the day we had to pick our favourite then make a wire drawing based on that drawing.

Day 5 was based in the 1st year hall where 2 scenes were built from various objects and a mannequin and we had to draw 6 studies concentrating on just putting down construction lines then putting in detail. in the afternoon we spent 4 hours after piking our favourite composition and drawing a line drawing A2 size where our drawing was concentrating on weight and structure of line.

Pictures are coming!

Thanks for reading
Annie
