The Middle Shed

So I've finally cleared out the shed that is to become my messy space for artwork and such.. got myself a second hand desk and chair and shoved it in waiting now to get it insulated so am no freezing when am in there and I've done my first batch of paintings!!! :) VERY HAPPY! I thought I would take full advantage that i could make a mess and it wouldn't matter. I thought so I had a go a Arnulf' Rainer's style of painting blind.

Wanted to try and limit myself colour wise so with the blind fold on i picked 2 colours( not first one that came to hand though) and used them, consciously unaware of what i doing and just started smacking the piece of paper (in the way in which i was feeling) like a mad man. I think you can fully get the movement quite effectively and my madness and excitement of getting to let loose with paint and paper

This is actually oils and i used my hand. Now after washing them many times with  special stuff they've still got paint over them... oh well. Quite like again the expression and the contrast of the colours. Definately with oils you get more bulk with the paint, but if you work it too much the paint just merges into one colour all over and that just isn't nice. but i think that can portray emotions as well and definately says spomething that you feel you need to keep reworking the paint till it just becomes a mess

These are some more, the two on the right are still drying again (OILS!). The left ones are dry though thank god. These ones were done with all my paints in front of me and i had no conscious idea of what colours i was picking. i feel though that somewhere this guide helps you make your decisions and helps  its just not at the front of your mind. I like the digging affect in the redder one as the contrast from the colour underneath shows quite distinctively and makes quite an interesting image to look at would like to work over it though and see what layers do to blind painting...REMINDER need to buy some disposable gloves if going to blind hand paint with oils!
