Photography Adventures 12 Nov

Today whilst doing photography i was trying to experiment on the theme of external and internal. Today i went to Preston graveyard and the wooded area by my house to take photographs (where i consider to hold memories whether they be good, bad, sad, happy etc.), to get a moody or haunted look about my photographs as I feel the one of the best photographs use mood and create mood. Also creating an image that has a connection to my life i feel is the way forward in creating photographs and any sort of art for me, as each image then becomes an extension of my mind in a way. I was feeling quite dark today so used this to inspire my subject matter and the way in which i took the photos. Think the variety of photographs turned out what i wanted to create in each. I feel better having edited them also as i can trick the viewer into seeing what i want them to see more and help enhance the mood and atmosphere of the photo to create a more dramatic photo.

trying to create a ghostly affect here, think it works well. Just used glow setting on picassa to create the ghostly feel.

trying to create a haunted image, but trying out a darker tone adding the purples and the  sneaky look by hiding most of the image behind the wall. I like how the black thing in the background looks like a hooded figure.monster, adds to the mystery of the place.

These photographs of the graveyard is to represent my childhood fears, of the unknown and the haunted and things that go bump in the night.

Think the added charm thing in the top right hand corner makes this photo quite eerie but i really like it.  Set up photos don't necessarily mean puppeted/fake looking photographs!. Like the composition as it shows that the church is worn down and has overgrown. the church is how i view myself. the charm on the right is to represent the childhood activities   that say with you and help you grow.

Think grey-er photos create the atmosphere better in trying to capture a dark/mysterious/un-nerving mood.

Trying to get the door to cover the entire frame. think it should be darker though. Could show a journey  the viewer trying but failing to get inside the gates.

Added a zoom focus affect, to create like it was focusing on a way out/in through the gate.Like how you can't really make out whats behind it! this one was to represent the viewer getting a little glimpse into me but are locked out through an unbreakable gate, as i dont share to often, used the broken down church to represent the way i feel and sometimes feeling worn down and broken.

Added a neon effect but faded it to get this old photograph look. think maybe the film grain effect is too much, feels maybe abit too grey for my liking.

tries the church/charm photo in black and white to see if it would help the atmosphere of the image. think i like the sepia coloured one better. feel this is too grey even though you get a large part of sky .

sitting in my car at the side of the road by preston and noticed how the rain on the window blurred  the outside. really like how this has turned out. was to represent the journey that you cannot see.

went to the ford near preston where i went as a child with my family  and tryed to represent the health and all things great about that area. love the refections of the water and the currents of water.

this was through my window again at the gate to the graveyard. think this is too grey but i really like the effect of looking through something that obstructs the image that the camera sees.

to represent the dark journey and the light always being there but not really part of your journey and isn't in any direction for you as you can see. the rain to represent the tears shed blurring and masking that journey........ GOSH IS THAT DARK FOR YOU!

this was to represent the nerves in the body and the way they intertwine and the imbalance of 'chemicals' that goes on,

i really like the effect that comes with looking up from the base of the trees  and how  they intertwine with each other and grow to create something that helps us breathe and live.

this was me trying out the slow shutter speed on leaves. trying to create a more abstracted image again but with a different technique. really like the image created here and the contrast between the leaves and the light from the sky

this one was actually an accident i wanted to create movement and a blurr but i didn't expect it to turn out like this, really like the abstracted look and the how the tree in the backgraound is still seen just a little giving a hint of what is there.

This was the image i was trying to create in the one above. i really like how the tree invaades the space around it, and takes over the landscape. using them to represent figures in life that grow with you.

moving the camera side to side after i produced the one right up above in a vertical  way. i like how the tree seems to have shaped into a gun and how the light obstructs the trees around. and how these life forms around you create something that ends your life and can hurt you.

putting the light right up so your only saw the really dark areas creating this abstract image.

using slow shutter speed to capture the light and shadows of the wood area i like how the trees become  dissolved into the blur and the light creates little openings into the sky light.

i like the look of where the trees meet the floor and how they grow out the ground. liked this angle as you saw the journey through the trees and the leaves showing the life that is there.

really like this image as you see the trunks and base of the trees merge with the ground and shows this growing from mother nature.

looking at trees in the wooded areas and i found that they have faces in them. like they are  protecting the land there and  sit and wait. another childhood imagination story here where in-animated objects become alive. the eye is thought the be  the window to the soul so i used the eye of the tree to 'see' if the tree had a soul that you don't see.

Well there you go probably sound abit mental now.. oh well
thanks for looking at all them more to come by the way, just realised that i haven't showed my photographs I've took over the course of this unit in my sketchbook or on here trying to say what i was trying to recreate. with inspiration from Benjamin Goss/Doug Keyes/Chronophotography/Arnulf Rainer/Bill Brandt/Anton Giulo/Odette England in little ways but are there!

Thanks :)
