Monday's Ventures

Hello, I thought I would share my journey today. I went to one of my mum's friends and my prior sub-teacher's house, (Lida Hatrick) to go have a chat about anything and everything art. We went into her studio in her garden and I let her have a look at some of my previous work and she showed me some amazing artists to view like Gerhard Richter and Ian de Solza i think that's his name anyway. It was really interesting to have her take on my work and for her to show me her studio and some of her previous work - as she is mainly a abstract artist which is what i would like to drift towards in my journey of art - and also artists she loves and that inspire her in her practise.

I loved that she had a wall of clipping which were of images that she loved and images she thought were just rubbish (and to seriously avoid in her practise). She's also told me to 'badger' my mum for one of the sheds to take over, to do my art in. Its on top of my to do list.

I found one thing she said to me quite useful is that the more you look at things and the more you study objects or scenery the more abstract they can become, and they can change day to day and you really don't know why they've changed in such a big way, as its the same scene you've visited on many occasions but it's interesting to see these changes.
Also I've got to keep going with my work, and i totally will!

Here's her website where she's put up many of her pieces which i really love..

Overall i think people should definitely go to other artists studios and see where they practise as it gives a massive insight into their way of working and you can learn alot and can be really inspirational in your own work. So go!

Thanks :)
